Many Hydewa customers know: Fire protection is becoming increasingly important in Europe. Particularly in indoor food processing areas, cold storage rooms or warehouses, flame-retardant materials are required that are resistant and have low smoke emission in the event of an emergency. Legislators and insurance companies are accordingly increasing the requirements for fire protection in areas with a high risk potential. After all, people work here every day and must be adequately protected in the event of a fire breaking out.
In general, fire protection already plays a major role in the planning and construction of structural facilities. To keep the fire risk as low as possible, mainly non-combustible materials should be used. In the event of a fire, this should prevent more and more smoke from developing and the fire from spreading. In addition, escape routes must be designed in such a way that people can leave the building without any problems. This is stipulated in § 14 MBO (Model Building Code).
For decades, we at Hydewa have specialized in developing customized complete solutions in the field of hygienic ceiling and wall systems. With the tested PIR sandwich panels, we are setting new standards. For the first time, we have developed a system that not only meets hygienic requirements, but also fire safety requirements. This makes it a product that guarantees maximum hygiene, safety and economy.
The basis is a PIR sandwich panel with steel face sheets on both sides. We finish this with a Glasbord® or GRP surface. Production takes place directly at our site in Weidenberg. The tested PIR sandwich panels with Glasbord® surface achieve a fire rating of C-s3-d0 (pure PIR panel), or up to B-s2-d0 (coated steel panel) according to DIN EN 13501-1. They thus comply with B1 according to DIN 4102-1. They are flame-retardant, exhibit reduced smoke development and do not allow burning dripping from ceilings and walls.
The excellent fire behavior of the PIR sandwich panels was confirmed and certified by tests conducted by the MPA Dresden. They are primarily used in food processing, cold storage rooms and warehouses, as walls and walkable ceilings in interior areas and as facing shells.
Many builders and architects in EU countries generally accept only flame-retardant building products. They also demand FM approval certificates (“Factory Mutual”) for the systems used in the buildings. This certificate is awarded by the insurance company FM Global to products that meet the highest standards. Of course, the individual components of our PIR sandwich panels also have FM Global certification. Thus, we ensure the highest level of safety in terms of fire protection in your premises.
